To the beloved, whom I love in truth:  I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers; just as you walk in the truth.

I have had a good season of cycling this summer. I have logged some extra hours riding with my wife; and I have been intentional about riding the harder hills around my house. Those hills are not as hard as they use to be.

It occurs to me that I can choose to enjoy the ride being easier, or I can apply my recently developed strength to push up the hill faster. Settling for the former leaves me at a plateau in my conditioning. Choosing the latter leverages what I have gained, preserves developmental momentum and, in this case, leads to stronger legs and lungs.

Don’t get me wrong: We all need to rest and relax. I am not necessarily suggesting you “work harder”. I am suggesting that you leverage what has been established in you during seasons of increased effort. This is particularly applicable to Christians in the workplace – with one bit of explanation.

For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come. 1Timothy 4:8

For Christians in the workplace, my cycling analogy is not as much about skill development as it is about our spiritual maturity. We are being transformed into the image of Christ, for the glory of our Father in heaven, through the good works we are made to walk in.

Transformation is a process that contains a momentum characteristic. This includes the renewal of our minds, the sanctification of our souls, and the addition of faith and wisdom. We can settle for what we have, or we can invest it for more return – and greater glory for God.

God is working in you to will and do to His good pleasure – to give you His kingdom. Strive to enter the narrow gate (Luke 13:24) – and keep on striving. Let me know how I can help.

Praise and Prayer Requests

The audio production work for The Map Maker parable – SomeBody’s Adventure – is going very well.  One of those involved (Siamak) said, when he heard the first couple of chapters, “This writer friend of yours must have been praying and the Lord is blessing because this sounds amazing!  It is a good book!”. Please continue to pray for the actors and producers; that they would enjoy and be encouraged in their work.

Pray for your brothers and sisters that are enduring persecution – as if chained with them.

The Lost Foundations project is going very well.  You can access the content here.  Please pray for continued wisdom and the resources we need to complete the project.

Beth is back at work – and we are back into that routine.  Thank you for praying for our time together while she was off.  We are excited about the adventures that lie ahead.
